IT Scrum Master – Bloomington, MN

The successful candidate, will have the opportunity to work with our client, a Fortune 100 company, a reputable provider in integrated pharmacy benefit management, cost management as well as patient-care services.

Position is based in Bloomington, MN

6 months contract with possibility of renewal or contract to hire. Candidates must be eligible for employment without sponsorship.


The IT Scrum Master will be part of the scrum organization within the Transformation Office. The Scrum Master will:

  • Ensure that the team is functional and productive; understands incremental delivery and the value of metrics; also understands backlog tracking, burn down metrics, velocity, and task definition.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, retrospective and sprint demos.
  • Assist the product owner with keeping the backlog groomed
  • Ensure cross-team coordination
  • Reach out to the larger company network for impediment removal.
  • Maintain relevant metrics that help the team see how they are doing (i.e. backlog tracking, burn down metrics, velocity, and task definition).
  • Ensure that our ways of working are consistent across the teams.
  • Liaise between the developers and User Experience/Visual Designers Foster better communication between the disciplines.
  • Act as a Project Manager when necessary.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of overall IT experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of previous project management experience is an added advantage.
  • 2 -3 years of experience working as a Scrum Master is a MUST.
  • Experience working in combination of Scrum and KANBAN frameworks are highly desirable.
  • Experience in Extreme Programming (XP) is also an added advantage.
  • Function well in large-scale, highly complex, cross-functional / platform environment.
  • Ability to adjust to cultural shift by demonstrating patience, act as servant leader in leading team, empowerment, adopting to changes, offering cooperation, managing communication and issues appropriately, etc.
  • Understand basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures
  • Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team
  • Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics
  • Understand backlog tracking, burn down metrics, velocity, and task definition
  • Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices.
  • Advanced ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams and drive projects to completion.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and delivering projects in the type of environment (App Dev, Infrastructure, and Integration etc.) as specified in the posting.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written including presentations and negotiations with Senior IT and Business leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft and present clear, concise and convincing messages appropriately targeted to the specific audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate status and issues effectively both verbally and in writing across all levels of the organization.
