Microsoft Access Developer (On call)

Part-time job (0-20 hours a week)

Remote opportunity. Only local Candidates

Location: Seattle, WA

Duration: 12-24 months

Mostly remote!

  • Client is seeking On Call Microsoft Access Developer & Analyst to replace current expiring contract for these services. Client seeks a Microsoft Access database developer to support the IT Data Systems team within IT Division as needed on an on-call basis.
  • Client seeks a Microsoft Access database developer to support the IT Data Systems team within IT Division. This position will provide on-call MS-Access and data analysis support to internal customers, and may have significant interaction with business users and IT analysts. Candidate will work on incident tickets as a primary responsibility, including legacy MS-Access Database break/fix support and enhancing existing or building new databases as needed.
  • The resources should have roughly 10 or more years of experience or a proven history leading the development of MS Access solutions while delivering on the following responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client currently supports over a dozen Access database applications serving a broad range of internal customers. The most important of these applications have been upgraded to Access 2013 and are linked to Access, SQL Server 2005, 2008, and 2012 databases.
  • Database table structures may have complex joins with up to 30 tables. Most databases are split, with applications installed on user's work stations via NSIS, coded for automatic updates, and are run with Access 2013 Runtime. Troubleshooting issues are usually related to runtime errors, permissions, or DSNs.
  • Consultant will support and modify existing Access systems and may be asked to build new ones from scratch, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Access database troubleshooting and development experience Best practices developing databases, queries, and reports Strong VBA coding skills
  • Strong SQL DML skills Strong data analysis skills
  • Experience using ODBCs to allow Access to communication with SQL back-ends Experience coding installers for deploying Access frontends and ODBCs to workstations Demonstrated initiative; ability to deliver tasks
  • Interacting with business users to troubleshoot issues and develop specifications
  • Candidate will work on incident tickets as a primary responsibility, including legacy MS-Access Database break/fix support and enhancing existing or building new databases as needed.
