Payroll Analyst

Position Summary

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of employee maintenance, data entry, time card review, edits, validation and balancing. This role is also responsible for creating and maintaining organized employee records/files. The use of various logs, checklists and work aids and tools must be used and maintained to ensure accurate and consistent processes including follow up with outstanding items.

Accountabilities

  1. Organizes and does the prep work for each payroll including data entry items for employee maintenance, email submissions to the group payroll email, logs, checklists and items reconciled and carried forward from the previous processed payroll.
  2. Develop a high level view of the full payroll life cycle from onboarding, timecard and payment processing, termination, reporting and accounting.
  3. After the completion of each payroll, reviews all checklists to ensure proper signoffs are included before filing.
  4. Prepares weekly/monthly data entry SOX reports for review by Payroll Supervisor in accordance with documented SOX process.
  5. Accurately performs employee maintenance items such as validation for new hires, terminations, voluntary deductions, wage attachments, direct deposits and tax changes, etc. Keeps all records in a thoughtful and organized fashion.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to draft appropriate communication to employees and agencies.
  7. Process entries according to established processes and in accordance with best practices that meet regulatory and compliance concerns.
  8. Researches and responds to requests for information by employees regarding personal payroll information and to Agency requests for Verification of income and employment.
  9. Works to build relationships with and responds to requests for information by any business unit that needs payroll assistance including HR, Benefits, Tax, IT, Treasury etc.
  10. Payroll check/DDA sorting, reconciliation of counts, distribution and packaging in accordance with acceptable SOX procedure.
  11. Special projects as assigned by the payroll supervisor or director.
